Skaar Racing Team has for a long time been working on our new concept RX Evolution. This weekend during the opening of the Norwegian championship in Rallycross we launched the project together with our three Ahtletes Simon Syversen, Glenn Haug and Mats Lysen. RX Evolution has more exciting things going on, but we have to take step by step and do things in the right order. Initially, we have started a "Rallycross School" where those who wish can buy our services.
Simon Syversen engaged SRT in the fall of 2012, and we have been working together since then. In fact, we had our first meeting just at Gardermoen in 2012 during the NM final in Rallycross. Simon participated in two seasons with our Citroën Saxo before he went over to start his international career. Mats Lysen became familiar with us already in 2004 during a race in Kristiansand. Then Mats Crosskart ran, and Frode, who won this race in Kristiansand, became a model for the 12-year-old boy who dreamed about Rallycross.
When Mats took the step over in Rallycross 2008, we had a close dialogue, and Mats proved to be a super talent outside of the usual. We worked part with media training and other things, and in 2009, Mats Lysen became European Champion in Super 1600. After that, he was offered an opportunity to go over to Supercar and drove out the 2012 season. He would also be driving in 2013, but there was only a race, including a second place in Portugal, only took place. He came in front of Petter Solberg, but ended behind Liam Doran. Now, Mats has taken a break from Rallycross, but the dream lives on.
The highlight of Mats was a natural when he won the Round at Lånke in 2011.
For several seasons we have worked with Glenn Haug with bilcross (autocross). He has helped us with our bilcross cars and we have had a close dialogue. Glenn took over in the Super 1600 Rallycross last year, but he also won the final in Bilcross (the biggest one to win in Bilcross) in 2016. This season he sets up with a new car, a Supercar Lites similar to Simon Syversen. Both will attend 7 World Cup rounds in RX2 this season.
Skaar Racing Team with the brothers Atle and Frode Skaar is behind the RX Evolution project, which we will be working hard in 2017. How the development is completely dependent on the economy, this is our passion, Atle can tell. He has in addition to spending vacation days at World RX rounds with Simon full job as car mechanics. Simon runs in his third season for SET Promotion. Glenn Haug runs his own Rallycross Team GHRX. Mats Lysen runs Rally and prepares for comeback in Rallycross one day.
Our goal is to make it easier to start with Rallycross, and not to be second-generation motorsport athletes to succeed. Contact us if you are wondering something around the project. More info will come on as soon as time is left!
